Your Soul

How many of you are aware that your soul is diseased and sick? Or how many of you are aware that your soul is much prone to be infected by the works of the darkness, day in and day out? You ought to be aware of this truth as the devil is walking around your whereabouts as a roaring lion with only thoughts of swallowing you. The very acts of your everyday life will heal and strengthen your soul or disease your soul.

The Disease & Symptoms

What are those diseases that can kill your soul? Anything of the flesh are the diseases that can disease and kill your soul.

The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21

The acts of the flesh are evident to anybody but the symptoms of the disease in your soul are not outward. Your body will look healthy, you will be successful in your job and your family will do extremely good. To people around, you will look like the blessed being and your life an example to follow. But your soul will be dying inside without any symptoms felt outside.

How it all happens?

The world around you is full of choices and opportunities for your soul to sin and get diseased. A look of your eyes, a thought being processed in your mind, a desire carried in your heart, a friendship that you cherish, a relationship that you long for, the words of your mouth, the place where you are at in a specified point of time, the things that you carry or own, the plans and passions that you hold in your life can become a disease to your soul without your knowledge. But, how! How can these simple and normal things that any and every human has can become a disease to my soul and affect even my eternity? They can be. That’s how the devil plays in our life every day. The devil is a liar and a deceiver who never shows the reality of how simple things can affect your entire life and eternity. Innocence has become a rare thing in this world. We all come to know both good and evil in the journey of our life. When evil things enter into our knowledge, first it stays as knowledge. Then it becomes desire, which then becomes disease. The knowledge becoming desire happens in response to the choices we make. First look of yours is an event. But the second look of yours is a “choice” made. This choice of yours becomes a stronghold in your life which then decides all things that happen in your life even your eternity.

The Way out

The choices we make are the ones that actually define us. These choices are influenced by the things that you take to your mind and soul daily. These choices can help you escape the snare of the devil if they are influenced by the knowledge and the presence of Jesus, your Lord and Saviour. His presence and knowledge can help you be sensitive to the Spirit of God who in turn will guide you in all your second looks. May His fellowship abide with you always. In Jesus name, amen.

Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, my heart and flesh cry out for you, the living God. Your Spirit is the water to my soul. Come once again to me. I will draw near to You. Give me clean hands and give me pure heart, let me not lift my soul to another. Father, let me be a generation that seeks Your face. I’m all Yours. Amen.
