Dear Sisters in Christ,

I am sure there are some who read the heading and thought to themselves, “Ah! I know it. What more different cant it be!” Well, here it is. Even I thought to myself the same thing, but God has a different thing. Beginning of December, we went to meet our family in India and came back only after 6 weeks. We have an aquarium here in UK and so asked our family friend to come and feed the fish every week. I got all the food blocks for the fishes, made sure that there were refreshments for our friends when they come over to feed the fishes. But I totally forgot about a little green Japanese or Chinese bamboo which sits in the corner of my kitchen. When we returned back home I saw the bamboo and told my husband, “looks like the bamboo is dead.” It was dry and yellow. I decided to get rid of it. But with all the jet lag and with a little toddler I couldn’t be bothered. Our friend called up and checked on us and told me that she tried watering the bamboo even if I forgot to tell her about it. I was shocked to see how the thought of taking care of my bamboo even came to her mind. I told her that it looks dead, but I have continued watering it with hope. The next morning when I woke up, I took the bamboo to throw it but to my utter shock I saw green leaves coming up. You might be thinking about what I am trying to tell here with this incident. Many times in our life we feel that our purpose is gone, we haven’t been praying, we haven’t read the Bible and we feel disowned, similar to the dry bamboo. But the Holy Spirit has been pleading with the Father for us like how my friend and I were watering the bamboo with a hope to see it live. The only thing that is important to note here is that even though the bamboo went dry it was still rooted in the little pot. It did not fall or wither away, it did not give up and it continued to fight to live.

We as women of the family have a great purpose. There is a saying which goes this way, “Behind every success of a man is a woman”. Not just any woman but a PRAYING WOMAN. Prayer binds the family where ever they are. It’s not an easy path for a woman, but with God all impossible things are possible.

For with God nothing shall be impossible. (Luke 1:37)

When you are depressed, pray to God, and He will turn the situation around you. If there is misunderstanding in the family keep praying and you will see the situation turning for the better. Like the bamboo that was rooted in the pot irrespective of not being watered, we must be rooted in Christ. Situations might change, circumstances might change and sometimes people too, but by rooting in Christ things in your life will change for the better and you will be bearing fruit in its season. Many a times our priorities change but that shouldn’t let us change our relationship with our first love.

As the Bible says in John 15:4, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me”, let us root ourselves in Him and let Him work in our lives.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I pray that You help me be closer to You and root strong in You. Give me the patience, guidance and wisdom to support my family in every possible way. Come what may; help me to seek You first in my life. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
