7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Joshua 1:7-9

Honored servant of the LORD,

Success is followed by works. You may be disappointed if you aim to be successful. But if you are faithful in what you are asked to do, success will follow you.

As God’s servants, we need success in all that we do. Every second we get closer and closer to the day of judgment, there are so many who have not heard the name of JESUS and there is so much to do for our King. It is our duty to reach out to the unreached with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. As we don’t have the time to fail and learn from our failures we must do all we can to be successful in our every day walk with the LORD.

Joshua is one of the key figures in the Bible history who fought battles all his life and won almost every battle. He had the power to split the river Jordan and make way for His people to pass through dry land and once commanded the sun to stand still because he didn’t want the sun to set before he finished the war. So, he prayed and commanded and the sun obeyed Joshua’s orders and stood still. This is the power we need to prove to this generation that the Lord Yeshua we preach is alive and in doing so we can draw as many souls as possible to His kingdom before He comes back to judge the living and the dead.

So what was the secret to Joshua’s power to victory? Blind Obedience and Simple Trust.

When Joshua was preparing for his first battle without Moses, GOD appeared to Joshua as we see in Chapter 1 and promised him ‘good success’.

God expected a few actions from Joshua in order to be with Him as He was with Moses,

1. Follow the LORD

The LORD had different approach to every battle Joshua had to face. At one instance, the ark of the LORD did wonders, another time it was Joshua’s spear, in another battle it was a loud noise of the trumpets and people and so on.

It is very important as God’s servants for us to receive the strategy or the complete plan from the LORD and not just the name or a verse. The more we wait upon the LORD, the more we receive His words. More words bring more understanding, more understanding brings more light to your spirit and more light brings more faith, more faith bring more power and more power brings mighty victories. This is how Joshua won every battle all his life. This is how David has no record of losing a battle in all his years of being a king- not one.

The secret was to receive the commands and the authority from the LORD of hosts who was going to fight the battle for Joshua. He did this every time before he went to fight irrespective of the victories he had in the past and this is where most others fail. We don’t wait for strategy anymore like in the past because last night was a huge success and many came to Christ. It is important to humble yourself every time you are preparing for your ministry, nothing from the past can help you except the Spirit of GOD- we need to hold on to Him and do not build our faith on our past experiences. This is very important.

2. Meditate the law day and night

This is a simple command but don’t despise it. This is the only way by which you will not turn to the left or to the right from following the LORD.

The world may grow cold in love and much darkness will soon cover the earth. Only one can keep you burning. Only one can keep your house to stand unbroken when the floods come and the storms hit- a strong foundation on the word of GOD.

There could be times your gifts of the spirit and your past experiences cannot change your circumstance but he/she who meditates on the word of the LORD and the one who does what he hears/reads will never be moved. Our generation needs this habit – the habit to live in the word. The more you read the word, the more you receive the word and the more you receive, the more you are sanctified, the more you are sanctified the more GOD can flood you with His Spirit and manifest His glory, the more you receive His SPIRIT, The end is history.

You will not fail in 2018. GOD will accompany you- to go before you as He did to Joshua to fight every battle you face and will give you His promised good success.
