Beloved in Christ, 

            I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sin separated man from his Creator. It continues to be the only partition between God and mankind. But Jesus, out of His love for us, bore our transgressions on the Cross and assured forgiveness when we confess our sins and repent from our evil ways.

             Luke 15: 20- 24 . This is a passage which we might have read a lot many times. It says about how the father reacted when his son who had gone astray, comes back to him with absolutely nothing left.

Luke 15:20

'And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.'

Firstly, in this passage we read that when the son was yet a great way off, his father saw him. When everyone else in the household thought that the son had gone away from his father once and for all, the father was looking forward to the return of his son each passing day. He had the hope that one day his son would return to him.  In the same way, when the world loses hope that we would have Life, our heavenly Father still hopes that His children who had gone seeking the worldly pleasures would return to Him one day or the other. 

            Psalm 103: 8 and 9 says that the Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy and that His anger is not forever. His unconditional love for us keeps Him expecting our return.

          The next part of Luke 15:20 says that the father had compassion and ran towards his son without waiting for him to come to him. See the amazing grace of the beloved father : The father's love was greater than the son's sins !  Likewise, it is enough if we turn away from our sins and look towards Him, Jesus will come running to us out of His compassion and accept us as His.

             Psalm 103: 10 and 12 tells us clearly that the Lord does not deal with us after our sins nor rewards us according to our iniquities. This means that He is ready to remove our transgressions from us if we turn towards Him. So let us not be afraid to go back to our Father.

           Finally, Luke 15:20 says that the father fell on his son's neck and kissed him. Before returning to his father, the son was feeding swine from which we can assume that he must have been dirty and looked awful. But the only thought that was on the father's mind was  his son had returned to him from his evil ways.

          Psalm 103: 13 and 14. The Lord remembers that we are dust. He cleanses us from our sins and purges it with hyssop when we return to Him.

        Whatever  sin we have committed, our heavenly Father, without any doubt, is ready to accept us with the same love even today. So let us repent from our sins and turn towards Him.
