But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night. Psalms 1:2

In the olden days the Lord revealed His words to people by sending angels to the earth or revealing it to the chosen ones through dreams. Sometimes the Lord Himself spoke directly to people. Then there was a time when the Lord chose few in the nation through whom He spoke His word to the kings and people. They were called the prophets of the Lord. The word of the Lord that was spoken by the prophets were preserved and passed on to generations after generations. There were times in the history when the books of the prophets were read only in the temples. People gathered in the temples to hear them. And the Pharisees were the teachers of the Law who read and taught the word of the Lord to people. People feared, revered and hungered for the Word of God.

We, in these days have the Bible in many forms and in many languages easily accessible to all. We find the Bible application in almost all the believer's smart phones. Moreover we can read the Word of God any time over the internet. Various bible study courses and materials, handy and attractive are available. You can get one in your favourite colour. Buying the beautiful one and downloading the most featured one is not the essence of it. King David rightly said, "How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your word. Psalms 119:9". The Lord Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commands. John 14:15". Also the Bible tells the same in 1 John 5:3 (In fact, this is love for God: to keep His commands) and in 2 John 1:6 (And this is love: that we walk in obedience to His commands). If the crux of the Word of God be the centre of your desires, then your destination is in His hands no matter how hard the path you travel seems.

Dear Lord Holy Spirit, teach me the Scriptures and help me understand the essence of it in my life. Give me strength in all the way to keep Thy commandments, in love. All I ask to the Father, in Jesus name. Amen.
