Dear Sister in Christ,
Greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Some time back I was in Kolkata attending a leadership seminar. One of the speakers said that the scientists are working to unfold the fact that “death” is a disease. I asked him if “death is a “disease” then how do we define “birth”? He had no answer.
I read somewhere that by administering “metformin" (a drug used to treat diabetes) scientists were able to extend the life span of rodents. By altering a single genetic code, scientists were able to double the life span of round worms ….While questions relating to birth, life and death has attracted attention of philosophers, scientist and alchemists from time immemorial, we have seen many interpretations but failed to unlock or unravel the mystery of life. Whereas the innovations have helped to extend the life expectancy, we are not able to achieve immortality or create life per se. The term “Bios” is used to refer to “life” in life sciences, in computer architecture “bios” refers to a kind of software which guides the hardware when it is powered to life…. While we ponder over many propositions on what constitutes “life”, we definitely know that “Life” is not a bunch of hydrocarbons bound together or electromagnetic rhythms but it takes a little more than that to define.
Life is more than bond of hydrocarbons.
Life is more than set of genetic codes.
Life is more than the most complicated engineering of nerve connections.
