A group of missionaries visited a village in India to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To their surprise and shock they found a little girl with both of her eyes burnt. The sad story of that little girl started as a simple curable headache. The little girl’s parents took her to a person in the village who practices many rituals and black magic. That person checked the state of that little girl and told her parents that there is an evil spirit in an eye of the little girl. So he laid the little girl in his lap and asked the mother of the child to bring a pan of hot boiling sugar. He mercilessly poured the solution in the child’s eye and as the child was screaming in her pain he told the parents that the evil spirit is shouting from within the child. The ignorant mother asked the person to pour the solution in the other eye also so that the evil spirit will leave her completely. Poor child! Now she is living blind because of the blindness of her parents’ hearts.
being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them – Ephesian 4:18
This is just one example of many such incidents that happen all over the world, because of the lack of knowledge and understanding. New born babies are killed on the account of offering to gods in many places of the world. These people are living in the darkness of Ignorance. They need the light of knowledge and wisdom. When I type this, I’m asking a question to myself, “Then, who will take the light to those people? Someone should take the light to them!” I remembered what Jesus told of us in Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world”. So it is you and me who should take the light to them and show them the way they have to follow and the life that God has in store for them.
