My dear children, it’s such a joy to get in touch with you through this blog! Easter season, is always a special season for all of us, isn’t it? Yes, Easter is the day Jesus rose up from the grave for you and me!
I want to tell you a small story about two friends.
Once there lived two young boys who were very close to each other. They almost did everything together and shared all that they had with each other. Time came when both of them had to part to different places to pursue their higher studies. One of them became the judge of a high court of the state. One day a criminal was brought to the court accused of a serious crime. The face looked too familiar to this judge and alas he recognized him as his best friend with whom he had shared so much of his life with. Now the judge was in a situation where he had had to give the criminal, his best friend, the right judgement because of his mistake on the other hand, he felt so lost and sad because of the love he had for him. While his best friend was looking at him with a look of plea in his eyes to somehow save him, the judge actually gave his best friend the punishment he deserved, a penalty of a certain amount which he knew his friend will not be able to pay. The criminal looked so lost and dejected that after all these years of friendship his best friend had betrayed him. But something happened. After the verdict was over the judge came down and handed his best friend something with tears and an apologetic look in his eyes. To the criminal’s surprise it was a cheque for the exact amount he was charged. His friend had paid all that he had to pay as his penalty!
My little children, we were like this criminal who was under charge for our sins and God Almighty who is a faithful judge had to punish us for our wrong doings. But on the other hand He loved us so much so that He gave His only Son Jesus to die for us on the cross. And so Jesus came as a tiny baby into this world, grew up like how you all are growing up right now and when the right time came He died on the cross to pay for your sins. And He didn’t just stop there; He won death which was the penalty for our sins, rose up from the grave and is waiting for you today to give you that eternal life. Just as that judge paid the entire penalty for his friend so Jesus paid for ours!
He said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay one’s life for his friends!” And that is what He did!!
