Greetings to all our youth in Christ. As we are nearing the end of this month, expectations abound. Christmas and all its festivities. He is Emmanuel. God with us. May the Lord be with you and bless you in all your ventures and everyday life.
If I remember correct,’ The Ten Commandments” was the first cinemascope movie to hit the screens. Even though released in the year 1956 with technicolor ( a rarity those days) , It was screened almost a decade later in the town where we were living, while I was still a primary school student. I remember those days our theatres would not hold cinemascope projection, and so the screens were modified. It was the talk of the town and everyone, old and young alike went to see the movie with great thrill. We trembled when the red sea parted and awe struck when the Lord decimated the mighty Egyptian army into the sea. The great Pharoah watching this from the seashore commented to the queen: “His God is God” and roaring trumpet sounds would follow. As children, one of the most admired quote from this movie was when the Pharoah declares “And so let it be written and so let it be done”. Once the King has decreed, it will be entered in all government records including the (cuneiform) tablets for posterity and will be complied at any cost. That was the weight and power, the King carried those days. Today also when the learned judge decrees in the highest court, the decision is final. Power and Authority.
It is written in Gospel according to Mark, chapter sixteen and verse fifteen : “ And He said to them : Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” . It is not about the lost sheep (jews) alone. But it is about every living soul which would include you and me today. It is also written about the power conferred by the Lord on such believers:
“ And these signs will follow those who believe : In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover”. ( Mark 16: 17-18).
“And you are witnesses of these things” (Luke 24:48).
Now which King or ruler or Authority other than our Lord can pronounce such a decree ! For more than two thousand years we are seeing this power operating through the believers. And if all the witnesses are to be documented even the most sophisticated computer of today with many terabytes of storage space may not hold the data !
